The %-sign has a special meaning in crontab.<\/p>\n

man 5 crontab:<\/pre>\n
“…Percent-signs (%) in\u00a0the \u00a0command, \u00a0unless escaped with backslash (\\), will be changed into newline characters, and all data after the first % will be sent<\/p>\n
to the command as standard input. ”<\/p>\n
So don’t forget to escape the %-signs with a backslash if you use them for example to format the date output:<\/p>\n
